When the Compressor Quits
Compressors are the heart of the AC system — when they quit, the system dies. In this video, JT and his team are out in Buckeye replacing a compressor for a long-time customer. Same job we run all over Phoenix.
A failing compressor usually shows up one of two ways: the unit runs but blows warm air, or it just sits there and hums without kicking on. Either way, it’s the kind of repair most homeowners can’t punt on, especially in a Phoenix summer.
A few things worth knowing about compressor work:
- It’s almost always a full-day job for a single tech, or half-day for two
- Refrigerant has to be reclaimed and replaced (we follow EPA rules — no shortcuts)
- A new compressor on a 12+ year-old system is sometimes a “fix it once” call, sometimes a sign it’s time to talk replacement. We’ll tell you straight.
